iMol is a free molecular visualization application for Mac OS X. The program is a useful tool for chemists, molecular biologists, and teachers. iMol allows for loading both small and large molecules using several file formats, moving and rotating them independly. The molecules can be rendered using various styles. Individual atoms and/or residues can be selected, then different coloring schemes and various materials can be applied. The rendered images may be exported as a bitmap, as a PostScript file, or as a POV-Ray file. Atoms and residues can be labelled using names and numbers. The program can measure distances, angles, and torsional angles between atoms. Molecules can be superimposed and deviation between atom coordinates can be calculated. Additionaly, protein chains can be structurally aligned to detect regions of high structural similarity. Also, iMol can load multimodel PDB files, display them as a dynamics trajectory, and export as a QuickTime movie.

What's new in version 0.30:

+ Compatible with OS X 10.3 Panther
+ Better control over stereo view parameters
+ Default atom colors can by customized
+ Support for MDL MOL format
+ Imports numerous file formats via BABEL
+ Can render QuickTime movies
+ Various minor bugs fixed
+ Simple PDF manual included
