cdbackup 0.3.1
Nov 26, 2002 02:55PM
Contributed by: Aarden
http://csml.som.ohio-state.edu/~aarden/cdbackup
Download: 676K Stuffit Archive

This program is one component of an extremely simple Mac OS X backup system. Archives are in the hfspax format (which preserves Mac type and creator information) and compressed in gzip format. The programs hfspax and qtplay are included with the installer.

It has several nice features:
Backup onto CD-R
Free
Archives are compressed
Backups are interruptible
CD archives can be accessed directly from the Terminal

It also has several drawbacks:
CD archives must be accessed from within the Terminal
The program runs in the Terminal
Minimal interface

Changes since 0.2:
renamed to cdbackup (was backup_segment)
the entire backup process is now automated:
-- includes an interactive interface
-- generates its own disk images
-- burns CDs directly from images
fixed a long-standing bug in which CD segments failed to terminate
fixed a problem with processing large files
reconfigured command line options
