XEMPIM is the OS X native port of EMPIM, the excessively modular personal information manager. EMPIM was originally written in C++ with the Qt graphics toolkit from trolltech. It has been completely rewritten in Objective C/Cocoa to integrate beautifully with MacOS X.

(X)EMPIM seeks to provide the functionality and ease of use of a conventional PIM by implementing a set of methods for communications between autonomous, dynamically loadable modules which will handle specific functionality of the PIM. (i.e. one module for contact list, one for calendar, etc).

This is a pretty big update to XEMPIM.
Changes include:

  • Improved memory management
  • A unified XEMPIM preferences pane
  • numerous bug fixes
  • a plethora of updates to the jaContacts module
