"Ever downloaded a .dmg file (MacOS X disk image) only to find it is recogniced as being a SimpleText document or a generic file? Double-click the file and you will get some kind of error, even though you know it can be mounted with Disc Copy. This is exactly what DMG Mechanic will fix for you. It sets the files type/creator codes so it will open with Disc Copy, both under OS9 and OSX. Easy. (Note: the current release of Disk Copy for OS9 does not support .dmg files). DMG Mechanic supports easy drag-and-drop and batch fixing. It works for both 'Device Images' as well as 'Raw Device Images'. If you are unsure about what format to use, use 'Device Image'. Read the included 'Read Me' for more info about this."
