MacReporter is a new dockling that allows you to select news websites you are interrested into. They will then be fetched at a customizable refresh rate and MacReporter will grab the headlines and notify you if there is anything new. You can then select the articles you want to read and they will open using your favorite web browser. Unlike competitors, MacReporter is based upon a plug-in system that allows new sites to be added but they are not limited to RSS-compliant sites, almost any site can be added! MacReporter is a $12 shareware. The new release includes a new update manager, better control of the refresh cycles, bug fixes and more !

New in this release :

  • MacReporter should not hang anymore during updates : every service will timeout after 20 seconds
  • Articles with long titles could not be marked as read. This has been fixed
  • Fixed the unread news counter. It was previously counting not responding services as well
  • Turned off the "Net-Update server not responding" warning when auto-update is on. This has been reported as annoying
  • Fixed a small bug with https handling
