EMPIM stands for the "Excessively Modular Personal Information Manager". Initially written for Unix/XWindows with QT EMPIM is still in very early phases of development. The idea behind EMPIM is that the core program implements only a set of communications primitives, functionality is then added by loading various modules (Contacts Manager, Tasks Manager, anything) which communicate with one another through the core. I am completely rewriting EMPIM and it's only module jaContacts in ObjectiveC for MacOS X.

It is by no means ready for the end user, but it is ready for more module development (a module howto will be forthcoming).
