just wanted to let everyone know why not many new apps have been added to the site - i've only got the help of one other volunteer right now, and i've been swamped with other work - unrelated to macosxapps.com. I could use a hand gathering new application listings, so if you're interested in helping, please read on...

It's pretty simple to add new applications. if you see that a Mac OS X app is not listed here, click on the "Contribute" link in the navigation bar near the top of tha page. you can follow the format of existing stories if you know html, otherwise, just be sure to include a link to the web site, a link to the downloadable file, and a brief description of the application. if you copy this off the developer's site, and you're not the developer, please put it in quotes.

it will be entered into the queue, and someone here will edit and approve the file as necessary. Some basic guidelines:

1) Macosxapps.com is about applications, not about general mac news. if you want to submit a news story that isn't about the release of an application, please put it on macslash.com. If it's a tip or a hint, put it on macosxhints.com

2) If a category isn't listed for the application you want to add, at the beginning of your submission, just leave a little note, and i'll take care of it.

3) if you pulled the listing from another tracking site, please get the direct links to the files from the author's web site. it's not very cool for us to be linking to downloads through other tracking sites!

people who post regularly and follow the basic guidelines may be given limited administrative privs on the site, which means you can submit stories directly without having to go through the queue. please don't ask for this, it'll just magically happen one day...

I'm working on a bunch of new features to make the site easier to organize, search and categorize. hopefully i'll have all this pulled together by the time OS X is released...
